Come Hear Us In Boston!

Julie and I grew up in Boston (actually in Cambridge...), and so it's always fun for us to come "home" to play. You just can't beat the combination of lots of old friends and my mom's home cooking :-)

On Sunday (11/7, 3pm) we get to give a concert at Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory, but this won't be my Jordan Hall debut because I've given about 57 youth orchestra concerts there already. Also Julie and I played in a string quartet together in high school called the Firebird Quartet (maybe my mom can unearth some shiny red shirt pictures!), and that group got to perform in Jordan for the pilot episode of the now extremely successful radio show "From the Top" with Christopher O'Reilly.

But it will be the Claremont Trio's Jordan Hall debut, and we are thrilled to be making it as part of the illustrious Celebrity Series of Boston. Quite a name! The Celebrity Series was also a huge part of my childhood. My family always subscribed, and that's where I first heard the Guarneri, Juilliard, and Emerson Quartets and the Beaux Arts and Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trios. A concert that Pamela Frank gave of all of the Brahms Violin Sonatas has stuck in my head for probably twenty years now... so inspiring!!

Our concert will be part of Rob Kapilow's "What Makes it Great" Series, and it'll be all about Beethoven's "Archduke" Trio. On the first half Rob will give a talk about what actually makes this piece great (with us playing Vanna White and illustrating his musical points), and then on the second half we'll perform the whole trio. Should be really fun! Hope to see all of you Boston fans there... except you're probably already planning to come, because my dad has made it his personal quest to sell out every Boston show we ever play. We Bruskin twins are lucky girls...

First CD Reviews!

We've got a couple of early CD reviews for our new disc: Beethoven & Ravel.

From ConcertoNet.com:

"The Claremont Trio is the way classical music should be played: soulful, passionate, yielding, discerning, evocative and informative. It is no wonder this talented threesome is paving a new avenue of brilliance and innovation for the new millennium."

Full review: http://www.concertonet.com/scripts/cd.php?ID_cd=2058

From Classical Candor:

"The three women have performed together for over a decade since their Juilliard debut, and their playing has merged into one voice, sonorous, delicate, nuanced, and powerful... They are a pleasure."
