A New Addition

For some of you who may have been wondering a little bit about my changing figure in the past months, your answer is here! On January 23rd at 4:45pm, I gave birth to my little daughter, Mila Dao-En Hsiung, at New York's Beth Israel hospital. She was 6 lbs, 5.4 oz, and 20 inches long. My husband and I are thrilled (and sleep-deprived). Here she is a few days old:

Meanwhile, my colleagues were playing a concert in Pasadena!!! I took some time off around my due date and found some excellent pianists to take my place. More on that later...

This little one has been hearing lots of classical music so I hope she enjoys it! Here is a more recent picture of her:

Dear Donna,

Mila is adorable! But I am afraid that I have some scary news for you and Kai Yu. Rumors have been flying on the internet that Mila has decided that she wants learn to play the tuba!

Observe that little Mila has become so acclimated to mommy's piano at such a young age, that her little hairs stand on end at the mere mention of a classical performance. This is remarkable indeed! Piaget would be astounded had he have seen this!!

Mila is totally adorable! Thank you for sharing this. My wife (who is much more observant about such matters than I am) noticed during your Richmond concert last September that you were reaching over a gentle swelling between yourself and the keyboard...with that kind of prenatal imprinting in magnificent music, she is sure to be a star!
