Maine Lobster
Last week we returned to a beautiful part of Maine for a concert near Acadia National Park. While there, Donna sampled the local catch ;-) Emily and I generally avoid shellfish and stick to food we can eat without a basket of utensils, but the report is it was delicious.
It's always fun to go back to a venue because the places and people feel familiar but also because it makes you realize all the ways you've grown (as a person, as a musician, as a group) since being there last. And sometimes it takes you back to another specific moment in history. In this case, as soon as I walked into the Claremont Hotel (!), I remembered that during our last stay there, I watched the announcement as Sarah Palin was named McCain's running mate for the 2008 election. It seems like such a long time ago and yet some things haven't changed at all....

Is the rumor true that the Claremont Hotel was so impressed with your playing last time around that it changed its name from the Acadia Park Hotel to the Claremont Hotel?
And was Donna really eating a live lobster???

It wasn't actually alive at the time, but I'm sure it was once alive and kicking! Very fresh and delicious.
Boston has OK lobster too. So why don't you visit this season and treat us to a performance?
histfan: I've also had very good lobster in Boston. Our new schedule is up on our website and as you will see, we are visiting Boston again this season (November). Please come to the concert! See you then.
This is a bit off topic, in that it has nothing to do with Maine or Lobsters...but my wife and I LOVED your concert in Richmond last Saturday, for which we drove all the way up from our home in Hampton (about 90 miles away)--a delightful combination of elegant, perky Mozart, passionate Schumann, and sumptuous Ravel--well worth the drive. Your gorgeous performance gowns--pink, mauve, and purple--were frosting on the cake!
