Hospitality Riders

Have you heard about the website, The Smoking Gun? Well, the folks at this website have compiled a list of performing celebrities (e.g. Christina Aguilera and the Dixie Chicks) and their hospitality riders from their contracts. It is quite fascinating what the demands are of all your favourite bands and singers! Many are quite specific and extensive. Ours, on the other hand, only includes items such as bottled water and soda. Because of our lack of specifics, presenters often interpret hospitality items in different ways, luckily for us! Here are some wonderful spreads:

A very warm welcome indeed from the people at the Lied Center in Lawrence, KS!

Below is a spread from Beaufort, SC. I believe this is the first we have encountered so many different kinds of cheeses, all well-labelled!

Yum yum! Many varieties of bite-sized food are great for us nibblers backstage. It is very difficult to manage large, cumbersome food objects when we have our dresses and makeup on!

Hello. I was at your concert in Buffalo with several classmates from a local high school and was extremely pleased to hear Beethoven's Piano Trio no. 7 in B flat major. It is one of my favorite Beethoven pieces. Your showmanship and musicianship is unparallelled by any other classical trio I have ever seen. I hope that our cold weather did not scare you away, as I would love to see you perform once again.

The media sensationalized a rider in the contract for Van Halen that states that a certain color M&Ms had to be removed from the serving. David Lee Roth revealed on his radio show earlier this year, that its purpose was not a whim of fancy, but a litmus test, so to speak, to see if the promotor was in compliance to the exact details of the contract. Diamond Dave said that some of the most dangerous electrical setups in a venue occured when the M&M rider was dismissed as urban legend. There is a Wolfgang Van Halen, BTW, and Eddie's son can play a mean stringed instrument;-)/...
