Overheard at Breakfast

...in the Grant's Pass, Oregon Super 8:

Guy #1: If I sold now, I'd have 250,000 in equity. If I'd sold 3 years ago, I'd'a had 450,000.

Guy #2: Well maybe Obama'll finally get'is act together and do somethin' 'bout it.

Guy #1: I hate tuh say it, but I actually voted for the guy.

Guy #2: Me too. Couldn' be worse than Bush. Anythin's better'n Bush. I would'a voted for Beavis 'n Butt-head.

I don't get it! Is he really saying that his investment is worth a lot more today than three years ago? Or does he mean it used to be worth 450,000(not just 450)? Couldn't agree more, though, that anyone would be better than Bush!

With the market oversold to the degree that it was, guys are going to exaggerate the size of their dividends. It's a guy thing.
It's more of a reflection of Fed policy than it is a -D or -R thing, not to mention investors making risky bets on false hopes.
For laughs, if you can see what room they're going into, call a cab or order a pizza from a payphone delivered to their room. Now they'll REALLY be frustrated.
