Homes away from Home

Being a touring musician means time away from our loved ones at home. But one consolation is that we make friends with great people all over the country. While in Chicago to perform at the Ravinia Festival, we caught up with Joan and Jack Wing, wonderful people who we'd met while cruising the Mediterranean a couple of years ago. They hosted us in their beautiful home and showed us around Evanston.

No discussion of wonderful hosts would be complete without mentioning Alice and Burt Saidel, our parents away from home in Dayton, OH. We caught up with them this month when we were in town to play on the Vanguard Concert series. It was great to see the beautiful things Burt's working on in his wood shop and to visit with their daughter, Debbie.

Of course nothing makes the Claremonters feel more at home than a plate of delicious home-made brownies, like this one that Alice made......

Seems like a cushy life! And you even get paid to live a great life like this???

Aside from the distinctive aroma of a baked pie straight from the oven with a piping bowl of clam chowder, nothing warms the cockles of the heart than a batch of freshly baked brownies among old friends.
