Claremonts Hit the Slopes
Today Julie and I took advantage of our last concert-less travel day in the mountains and went skiing at Eldora Mountain Resort. http://www.eldora.com/ Not the biggest mountain in the Rockies, but plenty exciting to keep us decidedly mediocre New England-trained skiers very very happy :-) The 4 inches of fresh powder and amazing views made for a thoroughly enjoyable 6-hour-long spring break! (I'm afraid I didn't bring my camera to the summit... With 5 degree temperatures at the base, gusty winds, and snow falling rapidly, I figured it was best to spare my Canon Powershot the trips to the top.)
The approach to the mountain was also pretty spectacular.
Our ski trip had to be an efficient one because we still had 300 miles to cover for the day. The drive from Loveland, CO to Newcastle, WY proved to be short on humans (we passed Lost Springs, WY with its sign: "Population: 1" - did somebody cover up a digit or two??) but beautiful in its untouched expanses.
In the ongoing comparison of the Claremonters' Verizon cell phone service with Ryan's Sprint, Verizon once again won out easily. (Having travelled and talked extensively all over the US, we would happily endorse Verizon. Would somebody hook us up with that please??)
