A Warm Retreat

Back in February, we visited our friends, John and Susie Freund, down in their winter home in Captiva, FL. Although it was brief, it was wonderful to be down there in their beautiful home, basking in the warm sun. Here is a view from my room window:

The palm trees are shading this:

We also performed at her country club while we were there. During our dress rehearsal, we were interrupted by a phone call from our manager, informing us that someone wanted to hire us for several summer dates. Emily was in the early stages of wedding planning back then and she spent some time working out an appropriate wedding date! Here was the scene:

I like to call this "Wedding Planning A La Post-Its". Note the essentials: bottled water, pencil, palm pilot, and hair elastic to tame those annoying flyaway strands of hair as she intently scrutinizes her carefully scrawled notes on various Post-It sized notepaper.

It was wonderful to spend some time with our hosts, Susie and John, but I also enjoyed the company of Indy, their adorably friendly dog. He loves people!

We were sad to go, but we all needed to be back in NYC! After all, Emily was in search of the perfect wedding dress and she needed the advice of her maid-of-honour and bridesmaid!!!!

P.S. For all of you who are curious, Emily HAS found her dress, and we are now all awaiting its arrival very soon!

Dear Donna,

Emily sounds super organized. But given all the work she has to do with the Claremont Trio, she should have hired Franck, the wedding planner who did such a magnificent job in Father of the Bride, and then she wouldn't have had all these wedding details to worry about. She could have left everything in the reliable, trustworthy hands of Franck. Hopefully Julie will learn from Emily's experience and do just this when she gets married in the summer of 2008.

Franck

Not only that, but isn't it sooo cool that Indy the friendly dog seems so well-mannered & impeccably well-groomed that it has it's own exclusive lounging facility, furnished with a rare crystal vase as its cornerpiece. I only hope that Indy doesn't knock over that table lamp in a fit of pique during a thunderstorm.
