Kicking off 2007

Happy 2007! We kicked off 2007 with a trip down to Palm Beach, FL, to play in the Flagler Museum. The Museum is beautiful, right by the water.

When we first arrived, we were expecting to bask in the warmth of the Florida sun, but instead, we got caught in this as we headed to our first rehearsal:

Oops! The day of the concert was much drier, however, which was a relief. Some friends came to support us at our concert. It's always heart-warming to see some familiar faces after our concerts.

Left to right: Jen Dickenson, Harrison Meister, Danny Dickenson, Emily Bruskin

Emily's boyfriend's family came out to support us! (Note from
Emily: Chad is my amazing boyfriend :-) Pictured are his sister Jen, his brother Harrison, Jen's husband Danny, and me.)

Left to right: Don Ambrose, Me (Donna), Marilyn Ambrose

Don and Marilyn are the brother and sister-in-law of my former Vancouver piano teacher! They apparently spend their winter months in the Palm Beach area and recognized my name in the paper. The last time I saw them, I was probably about 16 years old!

Some friends, Bill and Mary Claire Phelan, couldn't come out to hear us but sent us a beautiful floral arrangement instead. It was waiting for us at the Museum when we arrived for our dress rehearsal. Thank you!

These are terrific pictures! But are you trying to trick us? Why does this precede the Worcester/Tuckerman posting on your blog, even though that one appeared a day or two ago and this one appeared only today? And how are those three people related to Emily's boyfriend? Is Jen his sister? And is that her new husband? And who is the third person? Did they like the concert?

Indeed, the place has the furnishings of a museum. Wouldn't it be wild to play in a castle that's furnished with one of those hellacious organs with rows of metal pipes sticking up from the top! Amplify the strings, too! You can play so loud that the lords of the adjacent estates will call the cops cuz of the loud music. Just finish the recital before 10:00 PM, have the staff put out any lingering fires, film the Phenomena for DVD (encrypting all copies BTW) and you'll be collecting royalties for decades thereafter...
