An Unusual Challege

We recently performed at lovely and historic Tuckerman Hall in Worcester, MA. This hall has wonderful acoustics; it is a pleasure to perform from the stage.

However, it is less of a pleasure to get to the stage.

One could simply walk through the audience, up the stairs on the side, and onto stage. But it is always more dramatic to enter from behind the curtain. And there is only one route from the basement dressing rooms to the backstage area behind the curtain.

Not so bad, you say? Try it with four inch heels, a floor length gown, and a cello!

Hmm Emily! I would enter from the back!

Query whether your instrument insurance company would attempt to decline coverage if something happened to your Lupot or Julie's Vuillaume as a result of attempting to negotiate that staircase. For example, I suspect the insurance company would attempt to deny coverage if you decided to climb Mt. Washington with your violin on your back or with Julie's cello on hers and one of the instruments fell off down the mountain. Similarly, the insurance company might attempt to decline coverage if you attempted that spiral staircase in Tuckerman Hall on the ground that you assumed too great a risk in attempting to negotiate it with heels, a gown and an instrument.

The capacity crowd in Worcester applauded at the end of EVERY movement, with a cameo ovation upon the introduction of the Bruskin parents by Emily. The Claremont Trio exhibited their usual synchronous precision within various themes, ranging from straight classical to elements of crossover Jazz,to make for a superb performance.

Don't let the spiral staircase be an issue; leave Violin B. & Cello B. upstairs and carry the heels in hand until Showtime. This was a very impressive venue with a casual audience.
