In the Car

It can be a challenge fitting Donna, Julie, Emily, Cello Bruskin, Violin Bruskin, (but not Piano Kwong), and all of our suitcases into cars. When we rent, "full size" generally does the trick and, thanks to Donna's husband Kai Yu's awesome IBM corporate rates (extended, oh-so-generously to spouses), we get them relatively cheaply.

Here are the senior citizens (211 and 158 years old) riding in style...

Emily,

You raise a concern that had not occurred to me before. Apparently some states have rules disallowing riders over 80 years old to be transported in rental cars out of concern that elderly passengers may develop health issues that will cause the driver to panic and get involved in an accident much more easily than might otherwise be the case. I understand that some car rental agencies allow this rule to be overridden by payment of a fairly stiff rental car premium. Although expensive, you might want to look into whether paying such a premium would be worthwhile....
